| Some of the visitors on Sundays |
Originally Published: May 2005
Home Bible Studies
The Lord is doing some wonderful things in Cairns in recent months, and we rejoice at what He's doing! We were so excited during our last visit to Cairns to see the church averaging 75 each Sunday, with a recent attendance of 99! In recent weeks there has been six new couples attending church, all the result of Home Bible Studies. The studies are lively with much discussion and interest in the Word of God, being held in people's homes, making for good fellowship and a relaxed atmosphere. Each Bible Study has a question time and the new converts have the opportunity to get answers to many things they have on their heart.

Looking for a Building!
The church meets in a small hall in a suburb of Cairns. Due to recent growth we really feel the need for a building. The church has been fund raising for some time and is looking forward to looking at property in the near future. Various fund raising programmes take place regularly and the members are enthusiastic to see our Building Fund thermometer increase.
Special visitors this month!
In late June we look foward to a return visit of the Peter Gration family. In 2002 this family left the pastorate of the Cairns church and went to Papua New Guinea as furlough replacements for missionaries the Brian Henrys. At this point Richard Carver took over the pastoring of the Cairns church. So we will welcome them back on their return trip to PNG, coming via Cairns for a brief visit June 24-27.
Another special visitor to Cairns church this month will Brother Nigel Ali from Fiji. Brother Nigel was just a young boy when his mother came into the International Church in Suva Fiji in 1992. Nigel faithfully attended Sunday School and church in his young years, along with his mother and sister. We have seen him grow into a fine young man and attend the South Pacific Bible College in Suva. He now teaches in this College. As well as this he was in charge of the prinitng department which produced all the literature and materials for the church in Fiji. He has played very active roles in all church departments but especially with the Youth. He will visit Cairns June 4-6 and be preaching for the Sunday service. He is on his way to Papua New Guinea to preach at various locations including the National Youth Camp at Mendi, Western Highands Region.
Find out a bit more about Cairns and the Carver's involvement in the church here.
