The Sunday School Christmas presentation

In September a large group from the church made a visit to Weipa for a rally. General Superintendent Br John Downs and his wife were the special speakers. They were also able to stop through Cairns for a mid-week Bible Study, which was enjoyed by all present.

The Cairns church members went by bus to Weipa, the journey taking a long 21 hours. The rally went for four days, with preaching and singing being enjoyed by all. By the end of the rally 6 had been baptised and 14 filled with the Holy Spirit.

Among our visitors this year to Cairns were Brother and Sister Jackson from Arizona, Brother and Sister Downs, Sister Jacobsen from Townsville, Sister Rowlands from the Sunday School USA, Brother Nigel Ali from Fiji, and our son Richard J Carver.

In early October the church sent Brother Scott Jones on a mission trip to Papua New Guinea to be the guest speaker for the Sunday School Conference. (you can read more about this or see photos) He was accompanied by one of our youth members, Ian Brittian who also spoke at the conference.

Brother Scott Jones is also of great assistance in the local church with his preaching and overseeing the outreach we have at Wangetti, north of Cairns.

In December we had two lovely weddings in the church. It is wonderful to see people obeying the Word of God. The Sunday School presented two lovely items in church this month. How exciting to see these young people loving and responding to the presence of the Spirit.

7 Sept 2008 - Andrea's surgery is a success. Richard & Andrea will be returning to PNG shortly

26 August 2008 - Andrea is going for Thyroid Surgery to have her thyroid removed on the 28th August in the morning.

Ongoing Request - Pray for Peter & Robyn Gration during their Deputation Travels

Sep 2008 - Richard & Andrea returning to PNG in the latter half of the month

Aug 28th 2008 - Andrea undergoes surgery to remove her Thyroid Gland. Operation is a success

Jul-Aug 2008 - Richard & Andrea are in Australia for medical attention for Andrea. They should return to PNG in early September.
