History of the Richard Carver family

| The Commissioning of Richard & Margaret Carver, April 1973 |
Richard and Margaret Carver were both born in Sydney, Australia. Richard was raised in the Anglican church, and Margaret came from a non-church family. Their paths first met during a Presbyterian church dance, where through unusual circumstances, began a friendship which would lead them to know God.
In search of Truth, as a dating couple they started reading the Bible and praying together. They saw that baptism should be performed in Jesus' name, and queried their Presbyterian minister on healing. His response was that healing is not for today, but only for the Apostles.
Unsatisfied, they began attending many different churches, looking for a church who would preach the Word of God as it was written, even to the exent of trying a Jewish Synagogue. Then in 1968, a friend invited them to the United Pentecostal Church in Belmore under the leadership of missionary Glen Bogue. It was here that they were baptised in Jesus' name, and the fact of healing was confirmed when a church member's 3 year old daughter recovered miraculously from meningitis.
Married in 1968, Richard began an Electrical Contractor's business, and Margaret became a Primary School Teacher. However, the Lord was placing a burden on their lives, and Richard gave up his Contracting Business to attend full time the South Pacific Bible College operated by missionary John Brian.
The Lord began to call Richard to missions during Bible School. During this time of training, the students viewed a Missions presentation which, amongst many other scenes, contained a slide of a Papua New Guinea woman. This was to be the beginning of a call to missions which has spanned more than 32 years of labour in four countries.
