Travel Diary for May:

May update from the Carvers

Since we last wrote we have been in Arkansas and Texas and we are now in Alabama and then Georgia and Tennessee during May. It is lovely spring weather and as we drove through Texas, all the wild flowers were in bloom along the highways and country roads. There were a mixture of colours and it was very pretty.

A kind pastor gave us three days holiday in Hot Springs, Arkansas. There are natural hot springs under the ground here and at various places they are to be seen and lovely fresh water is available at taps throughout the town.

We drove almost the full length of Texas and were able to meet up with friends and enjoy some meals and fellowship together. This week we made the long drive to Alabama, driving past the areas where Hurricane Katrina hit. You can see a lot of renovation and new buildings.

We have now travelled 16,249 miles (26,150 km) by car and 9,392 miles (15,115 km) by air (not counting the flight to the USA from Australia). See where we've travelled.

We think about you all and pray the Lord will bless and keep you. We thank the Lord for your faithfulness to Him and His work. Until next time,

10 May 2008 - Andrea has been diagnosed with Graves Disease. It looks as if she may have to return to Australia for treatment. Please pray for her healing and Richard & Andrea's finances.

1 May 2008 - Increasing frequency of armed holdups in Goroka. Please pray for Richard & Andrea's safety, and that of the church members and Headquarters
