We attended the General Conference in Columbus, Ohio enjoying each service and the time of fellowship, catching up with old friends, hosting our booth for Australia/ Papua New Guinea in the Pacific Region booth area, attending the Ministers Wives breakfast, the Foreign Missions banquet, and hearing some great preaching each evening. The Foreign Missions service on the Saturday night was a highlight. Brother Steven Willoughby preached a moving message and the sacrifical giving was tremendous.

However these good times quickly come to a close and a few days later we drove the long road on Highway 40 all the way from St Louis through to the other side of New Mexico for our first church service. This was some 1600 miles (2500km) and we did the trip over 4 days. The drive through Missouri was pretty as the leaves are just beginning to change and there are oranges reds and browns through all the hills.

Navajo Church
Navajo Church with the Eastridges

Our destination was New Mexico on the far west side. Our first service was in the Navajo Indian Nation in the town of Tohatchi, with the Eastridges (Sis Freemans brother). We stayed in their home in this Indian reservation and were made to feel welcome. The service that night was attended by about 30 Navajo folk, all so very friendly and such nice looking folk. They sang songs from their Navajo song book. Br Eastridge has many stories to tell of when his mother started the church among the Indians in this area, as well as in other Indian reservations. The next evening we also went to another Navajo church and once again enjoyed this time.

Road to El Paso
The long road to El Paso, Texas

New Mexico is a fascinating State with much to see. We returned to Albuquerque where we had a service and left the next morning during the Balloon Festival with hundreds of coloured hot air balloons flying in the blue skies around the city.
