Headquarters Office

Office Secretary
Our office Secretary, Sis Bennie

The Headquarters Office for the church in Papua New Guinea is presently being renovated and set up with computers and office equipment. As explained in our section on renovations, this area was in dire need of repairs. This has been done over the last 6 monhts by faithful assistants, as well as my son Richard and our office secretary Sister Bennie Metta.

The importance of an administration centre for the PNG Church could not be greater. With a church of 55,000 constituents with some of the most rugged terrain in the world, many remote churches only have contact with a main town once a year or so. The Pastors and church-planters are often isolated without any other source of encouragement. The office is a central area for the distrubution of literature, mail, newsletters and all matters pertaining to the church.

Office Renovation
Richard Jnr training Sis Bennie

It has only been in November 2004 that the PNG church was able to be set up with an office Secretary and computer. Our son Richard also set up the church with a Financial & Reporting System to enable us to begin set up a financial framework for the church. After some intensive training from Richard, Sis Bennie is now full-time, generating letters, materials and communication for the work that is greatly needed.

Our son Richard returned in June 2005 to continue setting up the office. We have been able to commission a second computer computer and purchase a multi function centre to assist us with our office work. He plans to create a fully-operating office network environment so we can bring in part-time typists and translators to produce much-needed literature and Sunday School materials.

Giving the Office an identity

The Headquarters office now has a small bookshop with affordable literature, tapes and videos. A sign was placed on the front of the building to advertise the bookshop as well as give the office an identity. Ministry travelling long distances bringing their Monthly Reports into the office are able to visit the bookstore and take some literature away with them.
