Headquarters Office/Mission House Renovation

One major task that requires urgent attention is the renovation to the Headquarters Office and Mission House. The building was purchased back in 1977 with an offering from a brother in the Belmore assembly (Sydney, Australia). The upstairs is the Mission House residence for missionaries; the lower half comprises the Headquarters Offices on one side and an Associates In Missions quarters on the other.

In urgent need of paint and repairs, the whole complex is in a state of dis-repair, with much water damage and aging taking its toll. Although originally the house never exhibited any problems, in the period of time that PNG was without missionaries it had been modified and neglected.

In September 2004, myself and our security, Bro Koko, fixed up much of the water problems. We had to unblock drainage pipes, and dig rubble drains to stop the water from flooding in to the bottom half of the house.

In November 2004 we made a visit with my son, Richard Jnr, and spent three weeks pulling out rotten timber, fixing leaking water pipes, tracing bad electrical connections, painting the whole office and putting in new partitions to create more office space. With the help of two dedicated nationals, we managed to finish the office side of the house.

Office Renovation
A lot of work is needed

In June 2005 we are making another trip to continue the renovations. This time we will be tiling the office floors, and renovating the entire AIM quarters and Mission House. Also, Richard Jnr will be setting up a proper computer system and office network to enable the church to produce some materials for evangelism and properly administrate the work.

We are doing all this in faith, because this component was not built into our budget! However, it is a much needed esteem-boost for the church in PNG, which for many years has not had the capability to progress because of a lack of resources.

In conjunction to this, we are setting up the HQ Office to enable us to reach this remote land!
