Report by Bro Scott Jones

Praise the Lord for a great trip to P.N.G! Ian Brittain and myself flew out of Cairns on the 30th of September at 12pm. After an 85 minute flight we found ourselves being welcomed at Port Moresby, by Sister Metta Bennie (National Sunday School Director), and Brother John Ulka (the Presbyter for the Port Moresby area).

Services ran on the Friday night, Saturday morning, Saturday night, and Sunday morning. On the Sunday night we had dinner and some great fellowship, at a nice restaurant, with five of the leaders involved in youth and Sunday School in P.N.G.

Port Moresby saints do not have many of the luxuries that we find comfort in, however, they have great faith in Jesus, that he will provide all their needs according to his riches in glory. Maybe some of us feel rich in this world and don't seem to need Jesus. But in Revelation, to the Laodicean church, it reads, "Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked." Physically Australians may look like the luckiest people alive, but spiritually some of us live like beggars, living well below the Spiritual poverty line. This results in many Christians dying from spiritual starvation. And many more thinking they are saved, yet they are not even born of the water (baptism in Jesus name), and the Spirit (baptism of the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in other tongues).

There were two things that struck me about the church in Port Moresby and P.N.G. One was the brotherly love they showed Ian and myself. Despite the difference of background and skin colour, they were all so welcoming of us, seeming to know that we are all of one body, and we have only one Heavenly Father, and the name of our heavenly Father, is Jesus. As the Bible says, for in him dwelleth all the fullness of the Godhead, bodily (Col. 2:9). The other thing that I will always remember, is the way the children praised and worshipped God. All the children would be jumping up and down throughout the whole service, and at the end of the service, these same children would strecth their hands as high as possible to God, and cry out with a loud voice. The children there are definitely in love with Jesus and not the things of the world.

After the Sunday School conference, we travelled to Goroka and visited the Gration family. All the brothers in P.N.G. love and appreciate the Grations for their sweat and tears that have been poured into the huge work there. The Grations are making disciples of men and women just like Jesus did. Pastor Gration also mentioned numerous times, how thankful he was for the Cairns church that has helped them many times with their missions giving. They are doing a great job, in a huge harvest, so please keep them in your prayers and continue to give to missions.

Children Baptised
The group who were baptised in the ocean after the SS Conference

In total there were 40 young people baptised in the name of Jesus for the remission of their sins, and 50 young people received the Holy Ghost, with the evidence of speaking in other tongues. Praise God for what he did when we went to P.N.G. maybe God will now call you to go there also and be a part of what God is doing in that great country. As Jesus said, the harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few!
