National Sunday School Conference - October 2006
Uploaded 17 October 2006
By Scott Jones, Guest Speaker
This is a report of the Sunday school conference held in Goroka (PNG) from the 29th of September to the 1st of October. Brother Anthony Gates (from the Wollongong church) and myself (Scott Jones from the Cairns church) are excited to say that God did great things during the conference.
Services were held on the Friday night, Saturday night, and Sunday morning. The messages in consecutive order were:
- The Prodigal Son Returns- Luke 15:11-13 (Scott Jones)
- The Rich Young Ruler Left Jesus Sad- Mathew 19:16-21 (Scott Jones)
- The Call of God on Samuel- 1 Samuel 3:4-10
(Anthony Gates).

The total number at the conference was estimated to be 700 people (there were so many people that they resorted to looking through the windows). By the end of the conference 55 people had received the Holy Ghost and 20 expressed a desire to be baptised in Jesus name when they returned to their home churches.
During the conference the children were blessed to have Brother Anthony dress up as a clown and teach them some new dance moves to Christian songs. On our return trip we stayed in Port Moresby and the church held special services on the Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday nights. The messages preached were:
- What is our Doctrine- Hebrews 6:1-3 (Scott Jones)
- Returning To The Father’s House- Luke 15:14-20 (Anthony Gates)
- We Are Part Of a Body- Ephesians 4:1-5 (Scott Jones)

Over 50 children were filled with the Holy Ghost |
During the services many people were refilled with the Holy Ghost and on the final night there was a great move of unity between the brethren. Almost every single person came to the front in pairs to pray with a brother or sister.
