Bible School Farm

Uploaded: 29 October 2009

Story by Richard Carver (Jnr)

Richard Carver JnrOne of our main efforts this year, in addition to the National Thanksgiving Day offering, was to use the land we recently acquired for the Bible School for farming. The purpose of this is to try and generate some income for the Bible School so we can go ahead with Bible School expansion; building classrooms, dormitories, and other things we need.

Before the building project starts next year, we decided to utilise the land for crops. We have planted crops such as Bok Choi (Chinese Cabbage), brocolli, lettuce, carrots, sweet potato and other vegetables.

A faithful couple, Bro Philip and Sis Doreen, have been made the farm managers, and work tirelessly each day planting, weeding, harvesting and selling at the local market.

The soil is optimal for producing rich, lush vegetables, with good growing conditions all throughout the year. Just take a look at them!

During the last four months of selling, we have raised over 7000 Kina (almost US$3000). Recently there was a short drought, which saw some of our crops die, but thankfully the rains have come again and the crops are continuing to grow.

This, along with National Thanksgiving Day, is yet another effort by the PNG church to take up the responsibility of the work, and do whatever is in their power to make the work of God in PNG go ahead.
