| Even little children worked hard to find their K10 to give toward the National Thanksgiving Offering |
Amazing results from Thanksgiving Day!!!
August 2010
Updated: 9 September 2010
Total Raised To Date: K78,000
Story by Richard Carver (Jnr)
For those of you who receive our newsletters, you would know that Papua New Guinea held a "National Thanksgiving Day" in July. This is the second year in which we have tried this fundraiser. We asked every church member around the country to give at least K10 (10 Kina - about US$4) - a small, achievable amount per person, which would be used to fund the projects and operations of the church in PNG. More detail about the concept behind National Thanksgiving Day can be found here.
I am very proud to report that National Thanksgiving Day was once again a huge success, surpassing last year's total within a few weeks [read more].
To date (28th August 2010), the total amount given within PNG for Thanksgiving Day is almost K78,000 (about US$31,000). This exceeds last year's domestic giving of K62,000, roughly K15,000 more than last year at this point. The saints have given with renewed vision - every region has given more than last year, some of them doubling their efforts. Some saints wheeled a wheelbarrow through the market, asking for donations... and from that simple action, raised over K600 for Thanksgiving Day, just from the bystanders!
This is the largest offering ever raised in PNG. The church here is working very hard to contribute toward to their own development (and already they are seeing the results of their efforts - read about the Bible School Construction). Allthis, in a country where 95% of the population has no paid employment, and 85% earn less than US$2 per day from their best entrepreneurial efforts.

We are taking this appeal internationally, to all soul-loving and PNG-loving people around the globe. The Thanksgiving Money will be directed toward our Bible School Development project: we plan to build classrooms, dormitories, a Missionary House, and teacher's residences so we can recruit teachers from overseas as well as locally to teach in the Bible School. Bible School is the need of the hour in PNG, and should you ever come here, you would see exactly what an important need this is.
If you feel God moving upon you to help the beautiful saints of Papua New Guinea, you can help by giving toward our PNG Thanksgiving Offering (tell me how).
May God bless all of you who love Papua New Guinea and have a desire to see the work of God go ahead in this needy land. The construction work has already begun, and we are seeing results now. However, there remains much to do and many more funds needed before we achieve our goals in PNG.

Please continue to pray for Papua New Guinea... it needs and appreciates every one of you!
